1 girl + 1 boy / guitars + drums = Bonfire Nights. That's the tagline of Bonfire Nights' website, the girl and boy being drummer Ruth Nitkiewicz and guitarist Stephen Foster, Brisbane locals who've formed one of the more exciting new Brisbane bands.
Bonfire Nights rely on a relatively simple sound, flitting sonically between their cited influences like The Raveonettes, The Mess Hall and My Bloody Valentine. They're at their best when mixing their own vocal harmonies with a bigger sound like on their track 'Own Worst Enemy' where at times they come off sounding like a less serious Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.
They're scheduled to be playing their first show this coming March 27 at the Troubadour along with releasing an EP in the coming months. Check out 'Own Worst Enemy' below.
